SERVICES

Our forests can be micro – as small as a car space (5.5m x 2.5m) or as big as your site and budget allows.

DESIGN and CONSTRUCTION SERVICE

We do all the work to create a micro-forest on your site. Your forest will absorb carbon, improve your property value, contribute to biodiversity and cool the local landscape.

The full design service includes: site and soil analysis, soil preparation, earthworks, selection & supply of appropriate tubestock plants for your location (including plants that are adapted to hotter & drier conditions), planting, plant protection, mulch, follow up watering & fencing (if necessary).

The plant selection depends on your particular circumstances. You may prefer an all-native planting of trees, shrubs, groundcovers and climbers. We plant at a rate of four tubestock per square metre and aim for an 85% or better success rate.

Alternatively, you may prefer to incorporate some food producing plants (many of these will be exotic) and will be larger pot sizes.

We will design a diverse mix of trees, shrubs and groundcovers for your site. And we will make recommendations based on the Canberra region having a hotter, drier climate in the future, more like the current climate of places like Dubbo, Wellington, Warwick, Gilgandra and Scone.

We will also explore harvesting water from your site to make it available for plants.

We provide a maintenance schedule and can offer an ongoing maintenance contract if required.

EXTRAS

WATER HARVESTING – We can explore water harvesting options on your site to make waster readily available for plants. For example, you might have a downpipe that we can divert water into the soil into an underground ‘creek-bed’. We work with a specialist water-harvester to design and build this work.

MAINTENANCE – Many plantings fail or look daggy due to a lack of care. We can offer an ongoing maintenance contract if required.

VOLUNTEER – If you would like volunteers to get involved in planting the project we can support these volunteers with planting experts.

CLIMATE FACTORY SCHOOL

We offer workshops tailored to your organisation or community group on how to create a micro-forest. Some of our workshops will be combined with hands-on experience at a pilot site in Moruya, NSW.
